At St Alban’s Pre School we offer a safe, stimulating, fun, warm and friendly environment. Children are able to enjoy learning, promote their independence and grow in confidence.
At St Alban's Pre School we have a well planned and organised environment, with a carefully structured EYFS curriculum that builds on what the children have already achieved and provides opportunities for teaching and learning, both indoors and outdoors.
We endeavour to provide an opportunity for every child to learn through play, to use their imagination and creativity and gain confidence by developing their skills and abilities.
Children learn skills, and acquire new knowledge and demonstrate their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. These are: • Communication and language; • Physical development; and • Personal, social and emotional development. These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are: • Literacy; • Mathematics; • Understanding the world; and • Expressive arts and design.
Our Pre School is led by our award winning Head of Pre School Elaine Mercer. Highly commended at the National Nursery World Awards 2017. Mrs Mercer has taught at the Pre School for over 30 years and brings a wealth of experience.
At St Alban’s Pre-School we are proud of our brilliant team of staff and the high ratio of adults to children in our group. This ensures individual attention to the needs and development of each child. Our keyperson system gives each member of staff particular responsibility for several children. The keyperson takes special responsibility for a number of children within each group, creating close links with the family.
All our staff are Pediatric First Aid trained and we are proud to have been awarded Millie's Mark by the National Day Nursery Association in association with the Department for Education and Millie's Trust.
Recent feedback from parents about our team -
“I always feel that all the teachers genuinely care about the children and in my opinion at this age that’s what matters most. Thank you!”
“A wonderful Pre School, the staff work so hard and care for the children brilliantly. When it comes to Pre Schools this is the best!”
The staff are superb with the children in terms of care and support both socially and emotionally. The atmosphere is playful and calm and there is a strong and appropriate sense of discipline that I like. A solid grounding and real preparation for Primary School. I would highly recommend to any parent St Alban’s Pre School.”
